/ Events / Following the signature of a new bilateral agreement between the Adam Mickiewicz University Poznań and the University of Basel earlier this year, representatives of the two universities will meet for a joint seminar in Poznań this Friday.
Joint Seminar of the Adam Mickiewicz University Poznań and the University of Basel
Both parties will present how Eastern European History is taught and researched at their universities. Beata Halicka and Piotr Oleksy will do so for the Adam Mickiewicz University Poznań and Frithjof Benjamin Schenk together with Kai Johann Willms for the University of Basel. This will be followed by three panels where presentations on current research projects will be held. From the University of Basel Olena Palko ("Red Tower of Babel. Soviet Minorities Experiment in Interwar Ukraine"), Botakoz Kassymbekova ("Ageing after Stalinism in the Soviet Union"), and Oksana Hela ("Images of the Intelligentsia in Soviet Satirical Magazines. The Belarusian, Russian, Ukrainian and Estonian SSR in Comparison") will talk about their research. From the Adam Mickiewicz University Poznań Grzegorz Skrukwa ("South and Centre Ukraine – The Oblasts of Odessa, Mykolaiv and Kherson and the Crimea 1990–2013"), Marta Studenna-Skrukwa ("Era of Stagnation or Developed Socialism? Everyday Life in the Metropolis of the European Part of the Soviet Union (1964–1982)"), and Michał Krzyżaniak ("Ideologisation of Youth in the Lithuanian SSR within the Komsomol in the Brezhnev Era") will present the research they are doing.
